This course covers the fundamentals of drawing while emphasizing the use of line, shape, value, perspective, space, and composition. It introduces and uses various drawing media and techniques. Emphasis is placed equally on seeing and expression, description as well as the pleasure of making. Exercises breakdown students’ preconceptions about how drawings come about, so that drawing becomes a matter of truly human scale exploration and experimentation, rather than the product of giant leaps of talent. Working from photos, reproductions of other artworks, mirror images, and the human figure this class uses graphite, charcoal, and pen to teach students the fundamentals. Just as we all learn to speak, walk, and eat, at ArtHaus 5, we believe we are all capable mastering the art of drawing.
This one hour class is for children ages 4 through 6.
