Creative Art (Jr, 1 & 2)

Creative Art Jr. - Ages 5 - 7 yrs.

Welcome budding artists! This class is for young students to learn the basics of art. Shape, color, line, and composition have never been so fun! Students will draw along with our instructors and use watercolor, colored pencils, markers & chalk pastel. CA Jr.’s goal is to create art, make friendships, & develop great skills.

Creative Art 1 - Ages 8 - 10 yrs

Students will explore a diverse set of art media including watercolor, acrylics, and chalk pastels, as well as learning composition and basic art theory.

Creative Art 2 - 12 yrs+

This class is a level above Creative Art 1; using what they learned about shape and line, students work on more complex projects. They learn shading techniques, finer skills with mediums, and principles such as composition, detail, 3d form, basics of figure drawing, and how to accurately represent objects & animals. Fine tuning these skills lays a foundation for their next step in their art journey. This class serves as a bridge between our upper level Studio Art classes, Digital and our Anime & Comics courses, incorporating projects from both tracks to introduce students to many different styles of art, and help them find their strengths and interests.

 

Clay Sculpting & Pottery Making

Clay Sculpting - Ages 7 yrs & up

Love to sculpt & make small clay creations? This class is for you! In Clay & Sculpting, students use oven-bake clay to create their own project to take home with them. Instructors will assist students with tricky spots and provide recommendations, but the sculpting is all their own! Instructors will give students step by step lessons to help them develop the needed skill to build the best foundation for their clay project. When there is demo for team project, students will also have time to get creative with their clay with the help of the instructors.

Hand-Building Techniques - Ages 8 yrs & up

Step into the ancient world of hand-building with earth clay, where your creativity has no bounds. Join our weekly classes to explore and master this timeless art form.

 

Studio Art (1 & 2)

Studio Art 1 - 12yrs+

As a direct step up from Creative Art 2, Students learn more advanced art principles like shading, perspective, and depth. They will learn how to place things in comparison to other objects in their pictures and find how light affects an object's shadows and form. Students will explore various materials including watercolor, colored pencils, chalk pastel, pencil, and acrylic paint.

Studio Art 2 & Independent Studies

Studio Art 2 is a project based intermediate level life drawing class. It intermixes abstract and realism to create interesting and lively compositions. The mediums used will vary depending on the project set in place by the class and instructor.

 

Anime & Comic illustration

Anime & illustration 1 - Ages 8 yrs & up 

This class explores character design, story-boarding, and scene layout most often found in cartoons, anime, and comics. If your child loves storytelling and creating unique characters and would love to learn more in an energetic environment, Comic Illustration is a great fit!

Anime & Comic illustration 2 - Ages 12 yrs & up 

Advanced classes allow kids to have more creative freedom, and are taught individually on their own projects. Students learn inking, dynamic poses, color theory, storytelling, composition

Advanced illustration

Assessment Required

Immerse yourself in our Advanced Illustration Masterclass, a transformative journey tailored for artists ready to refine their craft and propel their artwork into the professional realm. Elevate your skills in watercolors, pencils, inking, and gouache, while honing the art of portfolio presentation and navigating the world of publishing

 

Painting & Mixed Media

Ages 12 yrs & up

In Painting class students will learn to master various painting techniques to create stunning textures and forms. They will learn skills such as dry brush, blending, layering, paint sketching, wet painting, layering, patience, and proportions. This class requires some prior drawing skills so students will be ready to take on challenges with the brush that will help further their craft as artists.

Students will paint a variety of still life, animals, people, fantasy, and landscapes to perfection working in the mediums watercolor and acrylic paint. Colored pencils are part of this course to incorporate a mixed media finish to their master pieces.



 

Digital Art

Digital Art 1 - Ages 7 yrs & up 

Our Digital Art 1 Class is for students wants to learn the fundamentals of Illustrating as well as learning what tools and how to use the tools on procreate. This class is a good fit for anyone who is new to the program and tablets.


Digital Art 2 & Animation -  Ages 10 yrs & up

Assessment Required

Our Digital Art 2 & Animation class is geared more toward students who have general drawing skills, and are more familiar with procreate tools. These students have drawn in the program before and are comfortable with doing demo’s with the teacher as well as working freely on their own projects. Animation and digital illustration are taught in these classes.


Advanced Portfolio Digital Art

Assessment Required

For the portfolio level class, students must be accepted by the teacher. This class explores intense digital studies with attention to detail, learning how to sculpt in 2D with lighting, enhancing your composition, and steps to learning how to create professional digital illustrations.
